Why Choosing the Right Body Wash for Men Matters
Showering is not a deep, meditative event. It’s not a life changing experience. You just need to get soapy, get clean, and get on with life. Simple.
There’s no need to complicate the process. But you should think twice about which body wash you’re using. Even if all you want to do is get clean quick, using the wrong body wash or soap can have both long and short term negative effects.
Here’s why choosing the right body wash matters - and how to do it.
Prevent Dryness and Irritation
Harsh soaps and detergents in many cheap body washes cause dryness and irritation. Dry skin is tight, feels uncomfortable, and can become flaky. It’s also easily irritated - leading to redness, itchiness, and inflammation. Is that really how you want to look and feel after a shower?
Skip body washes and soaps with harsh detergents. These products make lots of foamy suds - but aren’t great for your skin. Try a gentle body wash for men with natural ingredients and you’ll notice the difference right away. You’ll leave the shower with hydrated, smooth skin - not the tight feeling of so many cheap soaps.
Avoid Potentially Harmful Ingredients
Sulfates and other potentially harmful ingredients abound in the cheap skincare products on store shelves. Many irritating ingredients are hidden under the catch all term “fragrance”. Avoid the issues caused by these ingredients by choosing products scented with essential oils - like our Invigorating Body Wash.
Compare products, looking for natural and organic ingredients like:
Glycerin - Promotes skin cell maturation. Acts as a humectant, attracting moisture from the air and keeping your skin naturally soft all day long.
Jojoba - Rebuilds your skin's natural protective cushion after cleansing it of dirt and bacteria.
Aloe Vera - Restores moisture and vitamins to your skin.
What if you want to simplify things even more and just use one product to wash your hair, face, and body? Go with a formula that consists of:
- Gentle ingredients - like coconut based cleansers - that remove dirt and oil without dehydrating your scalp and skin.
- Ingredients specifically designed to strengthen and nourish your hair - like protein amino acids.
- Hydrating ingredients that promote a healthy scalp and smooth skin - like vitamin E and aloe vera.
Coincidentally, those are the ingredients you'll find in our All in One Wash. It's easy on your hair, scalp, face, and body without any of the questionable ingredients you want to avoid.
Bonus Tip: Water Temperature Matters
While you’re enjoying your shower and scrubbing down, take a moment to turn down the water temperature a bit. Hot water works against skin moisture. It can damage your skin's natural barrier and lead to dehydrated skin.
That doesn’t mean you have to freeze in the shower either. Just keep the water lukewarm instead of nearly scalding. Your skin will appreciate it.
And when you dry off, hydrate your skin with face moisturizer and body lotion. That will further prevent tight, flaky skin and ensure you step out of the shower looking your very best.
