How to Use Eye Cream

It's often said that the eyes are the window to the soul, and it's true that the eyes are one of the most expressive parts of the face. All the small muscles around your eyes work overtime to give your face a full range of emotions and expressions. Whether you're laughing, looking intently at someone, or brushing away a couple of tears during a sad movie, your eyes say a lot about your mood at the moment.

Over time, the skin around the eyes can start to show signs of age. As early as your 30s, you might notice changes to the skin around your eyes. Repetitive muscle movements can lead to expression lines, commonly known as crow's feet. The skin under your eyes may also be prone to discoloration and puffiness, especially if you're tired or stressed. And sun exposure from years of outdoor activities can speed up the signs of aging, especially on the delicate skin around your eyes.

The good news is that there is an easy way to make the skin around your eyes appear brighter, more hydrated, and give you an overall refreshed look — using eye cream. Explicitly formulated to address signs of aging around the eyes, eye cream is an excellent addition to any daily grooming routine. Keep reading to learn how to use eye cream!

Is Eye Cream Necessary?

If you're already using skincare products like serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen, you might wonder if eye cream is really necessary. Shouldn't all facial skincare products work for the whole face?

That's a valid question, but the skin around your eyes is different from the skin around your jaw or cheeks. Imagine that you nick yourself shaving. Now imagine that same kind of nick on the skin under your eyes. Not pleasant, right?

The skin near your eyes is more delicate, so it can benefit from special care, especially if you want to slow the signs of aging. Products for use around your eyes are made to be gentle yet effective. They contain ingredients that address common signs of aging, like decreased collagen, reduced skin elasticity, and dark circles and puffiness under the eyes.

What Does Eye Cream Do?

Eye creams are generally meant to improve the overall appearance of the area around and underneath the eyes. Our Restoring Eye Cream packs a lot of punch into a lightweight product. The all-natural formula:

  • Hydrates
  • Smooths lines
  • Improves circulation
  • Reduces puffiness and inflammation
  • Reduces the appearance of dark circles

The secret to its success lies in the carefully selected ingredients, which address multiple signs of aging. The active ingredients include:

  • Matrixyl 3000: This clinically tested blend of protein peptides is shown to boost collagen production. After two months of regular use, it can reduce wrinkles by up to 45%.
  • Hyaluronic acid: This naturally occurring compound contains molecules that retain over 1,000 times their weight in water, making it an ideal ingredient for deep skin hydration.
  • Caffeine: Caffeine is a natural stimulant that works on your skin as well as your nervous system. Applying caffeine topically can reduce the look of dark circles and eye bags by increasing blood circulation around the eyes.
  • Vitamin C: A powerhouse antioxidant, vitamin C can help slow the signs of aging, reduce discoloration and redness, and prevent sun damage.
  • Blueberry extract: Blueberries are a natural source of vitamin C, vitamin E, and resveratrol. When used in skincare products, blueberry extract can reduce inflammation and strengthen your skin's moisture barrier.

All of the ingredients in our Restoring Eye Cream are cruelty-free and natural. The cream is fast-absorbing and lightweight, so you don't have to wait for it to sink in. You can apply it without any greasy residue or shine.

How to Apply Eye Cream

Applying eye cream isn't rocket science, but it's not as easy as slathering it on and rubbing it in. The skin around your eyes is delicate, so be cautious when applying any product to that area.

Follow these steps for safe, effective eye cream application:

  • Cleanse your skin as usual, then pat your face dry.
  • Using your ring finger, scoop out a pea-sized dab of eye cream.
  • Place small dots of cream under your eyes and around the orbital bone.
  • Still using your ring finger (it puts less pressure on your skin than your other fingers), gently pat the cream onto your skin. Be careful not to get it on your eyelids or near the lash line.
  • Let the eye cream absorb, then apply any additional products.

When to Apply Eye Cream

Restoring Eye Cream is fast-absorbing, allowing you to use it both morning and night. The lightweight formula is designed to quickly sink into the skin, so you don't have to worry about greasy residue or shine. It's rich enough to provide your skin with deep hydration and lasting anti-aging benefits while you sleep.

It's best to apply skincare products after washing your face. You want to remove any sweat and grime from your skin so you don't trap dirt and germs under a layer of moisturizer.

As a general rule, apply thinner skincare products first and follow up with creamier ones. That allows the ingredients to absorb properly, ensuring they work correctly. After washing your face, apply any serums and let them absorb. You can apply eye cream after serum or after your moisturizer. Just make sure to wash your hands before applying eye cream so that nothing is on your fingers that might irritate the skin around your eyes, or your eyes themselves.

After a few weeks of regular use of Restoring Eye cream, you'll be able to see the changes around your eyes. You'll look better, and your skin will feel great.

FAQs

At what age should I start using eye cream?

You can start using eye cream as soon as you're old enough to open the container.

Okay, that's an exaggeration, but no one is too young to develop good skincare habits. Using an eye cream before you start to see visible signs of aging can help slow the process and keep your skin looking younger for longer.

Does Restoring Eye Cream work for all skin types?

Yes! Restoring Eye Cream is formulated to be rich, but not too heavy or greasy. It doesn't cause breakouts, and it's gentle enough to use even if you have sensitive skin.

If you have allergies, check the ingredients list. Restoring Eye Cream contains macadamia nut oil, so it may not be suitable for individuals with tree nut allergies.
